This month we are highlighting one of my favorite, and one of the most versatile essential oils: Tea Tree. If someone asked me to choose one, and only one EO, it would definitely be this splendid little oil. Extracted from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia tree originating in Australia, Tea Tree is antibacterial and antimicrobial, making it perfect for cleansing. In fact, medics used to call it “first aid kit in a bottle” during World War 2, as they applied it to soldiers wounds in battle to ward off infection until they could be moved to a hospital. This is the very reason we use Tea Tree oil in our acne-fighting charcoal soap. Tea tree attacks the bacteria that builds up in the pores and aids in clearing skin. So lets tip our hat to this God-given “first aid kit in a bottle!”
